Review Meetings

First Review
August 12th, Friday
Swati, Agnishikha

Presented all the research I had done as well as the concept + initial ideation and explorations on cloth.

·       1. Explore ‘zero waste’ as a concept , critique it rather than have it be the foundation of the project.
·       2. Explore Japanese principles of design – chindogu etc.
·       3. Don’t stop experimenting with textures and materials, but also continue to deepen the  conceptualizations.   Don’t approach the putting together of the waste as a yardage fabric. Also approach it as one off pieces almost like a canvas. Bring in the element of surprise.
·       4. Collaborate with Padmaja to explore quirkiness, the element of surprise
·       5. Rework timeline to include milestones of completion as well as a weekly schedule.

Deliverables by next review:

+At least one garment completed
+Concept to be mailed to us before that.
+Iterations and explorations from which the client has looked at and approved a selection.

Review 2 Scheduled for : Sept.12, Monday at 1pm.

Second Review
Sept. 12th, Monday
Swati, Agnishikha & Bani

Discussed the concept + showed all the exploration samples.

1. Keep the concept simple - instead of critiquing the concept of zero-waste, use it instead to say that waste can be used to create high end pieces.
2. Decide on the products depending on the samples - home furnishings and garments.
3. Home Furnishings:
    - work on them as artworks, one off pieces
    - don't limit the kind of products ( table runners, bed spreads etc. )
    - design a link that will run through the entire product range
4. Garments:
    - discuss the product range/ideas for layout of textures with the client
    - start production right away for the textures that have been taken forward
    - think of products that can have longer life periods than everyday clothes ex: jackets.
    - high lights to the garments to surprise the viewer

Deliverables for next review :

+ final explorations for products
+ finished garments + home furnishings : as many as possible

Review 3 Scheduled for : October 10th Monday at 1pm.

Third Review
Oct 10th, Monday
Swati, Agnishikha

Showed my panel one ready garment + four textured cushion covers
(and layouts of 2nd set of cushion covers + 2 jackets)

1. Discussed both the cushion cover line as well as the garment line – product range (short & long jackets) + no. of products + techniques employed
2. Garment Collection – 3 jackets (same treatment) + 1 skirt, 1 dress & one yet to be decided piece (similar treatment)
3. Cushion Collection- Keep them to standard size (16 0r 18”) and make them each one-off pieces and not fit them into sets of cushions.
4. Decided on what links the entire project together is un-cut already shaped scraps and eliminated explorations that did not fit this theme.
5. Talked about machine stitch lines and how they change the surface of the fabric creating the difference between just patched-together cloth.
6. Discussed on possible ideas for the photo shoot.
7. Cleared some doubts regarding submission as well as final documentation.

Deliverables till submission:

+ to email photographs of textured cloth for both lines as and when ready.
+ to decide on photo shoot location/theme.
