First day at Transit Design - Research and understanding the client, their design sensibility, target audience, work ethic and workspace.
Preliminary research on fashion and textile artists - what Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto, Rei Kawakubo, Maison Martin Margiela and other artists did to break the fashion mode in the 1970s.
Exploring the concepts of zero-waste, avant-garde clothing, comtemporary fashion in India as well as directions that I can take for this project.

Continued research on the client base at Transit Design and the possibilities given the workspace and the direction that the studio can take in terms of the scope for the project.
July 27th
Looking for inspiration- keeping in mind various constraints and possibilities.

Market research- Bungalow 8, Bombay Electric + research on the individual designers & their collections.

Cotinuing market research- Attic, Taxxi & Vitamin K, Loose Ends, Accessorize + mind-mapping.

Concept building- mind-mapping, went around exploring the city of Mumbai.
Aug 1st
Reviewing the scraps and waste fabric from the studio. Making mood-boards.
Aug 2nd
Creating patterns and textures on paper that can be translated onto cloth + segregating scraps and waste
fabric into colour, texture etc.
Aug 3rd
Continued ideating on patterns and methods to construct the waste fabric.
Aug 4th
Started drawing out patterns for stitch shibori - in order to create pleating textures.
Aug 5th
Texturing scrap samples through simple stitch techniques - exploration.
Aug 6th
Worked from home : updated blog + used paper to explore folding & pleating techniques.
Aug 8th
Worked on two samples using different techniques of applique and patchwork.
Aug 9th
Office was closed so updated blog and drew out some more textures & patterns from the mood boards.
Aug 10th
Worked on three more swatches- using machine stitches, hand stitching as well as solid insertion technique.
Aug 11th
Worked on two new samples. Left for review.

Worked on revised concept- research based work.
Aug 15th
Continued to work on concept & putting it into a solid framework. Started drawing out exploration textures for kaantha embroidery.
Aug 16th - 19th
Revised concept - approached it from a different angle than before.
Aug 20th - 30th
Sampling - texturing cloth using pleats,patchwork, folding, cutouts and layering.
Working on refinement of concept alongside.
Sept 1 st
Holiday for Vinayaka Chathurthi - drew out potential line patterns for pleating and patchwork.
Sept 2nd
Critique with client on all samples. - decided which could be taken forward. Suggests working on garments as well as home furnishings such as cushion covers.
Sept 3rd
Worked from home - developed a set of cushion cover patterns. Worked on perfecting the concept and presentation.
Sept 5th - 9th
Worked on the kaantha technique by myself - innovating on how it can be done to surprise the viewer.

Started garment production - textured cloth for Garment 1.
Had a critique with client on how to proceed in creation of products/product range etc.
Sept 15th
Started working on coordinated cushion covers set 1. Finished Garment 1.
Sept 16th
Started Garment 2 : Textured and cut cloth. Patchworked pieces for front and back of skirt.
Decided on the other garments - what to take forward and samples for testing.
Sept 17th
Finished texturing cloth for garment 2. Started packing cloth + scraps to take home.
Last day at Juhu Studio.
Sept 19th
Started working on quilt 1 + finished cushion covers set 1.
Made a timeline for the week to work at home + timeline for the entire project.
Updated blog.
Sept 20th
Updated myself with the research reading.
Started on quilt 2.
Did some sketches for layouts for home furnishings.

Finished quilt 2 + started Artwork 1.
Sept 22nd
Finished cushion covers set 2.
Updated blog with explorations. Finished texturing cloth for Garment 3.

Worked on various artwork pieces.
Met with client for critique. Reworked on Garment 2's texture.
